Inlay techniques, both traditional and modern, will include some basic exercises to gain familiarity with the tools, those operated by hand and those operated by power. After looking at the appropriate materials, we'll dive into stringing, bandings, and basic ovals yielding a completed table leg and assorted panels, including some free form figure designs. Transitioning into ornamental veneer work later in the week where we will run the gamut from hammer veneering to using a vacuum bag. Veneers and adhesives will be discussed in depth. Exercises will include a drawer front, fielded panel and a pie-pattern top. The goal is to introduce you to these techniques and provide you the knowledge and practice to know which techniques to use and when & where they are best utilized.
