Description

Inspired by the pictured chair designed and built by Chattanooga, TN furniture maker Carter Ellis, this new project represents a different direction from the usual Period or Arts & Crafts furniture forms CVSW Director Bob Van Dyke is known for. Teaming up with Chair Seat Weaver, Sue Muldoon, students will have the opportunity to be a part of developing a new project and then will learn the distinctive Danish Cord seat weaving technique. The traditional bent nails will be used in the Danish cord weaving. Departing a little from the design of the pictured chair, we will incorporate some subtle curves in the back rest, the arms and the seat rail but overall it will maintain the basic look of the pictured chair. Northern white ash is the materials of choice, selected for its clean look and superior strength and resilience. We will spend the first 4 days building the chair and then spend the last 2 – 3 days finishing the Danish Cord. Don’t miss this opportunity to add a new style and skills to your repertoire. Sign up today. Class is limited to 8 students

Tuition: $985.00 plus materials ($170.00 plus tax)
