Description
In this 5-day class we will build a Fremont side chair using the Festool Domino 500 for joinery. If available, students are encouraged to bring their own Dominos (but not necessary – we will have one here for use)
The chair’s design originated from a client request to combine elements of American Arts and Crafts with that of Greene and Greene. It has been built in both mahogany and QS white oak and is at home in either woods.
The class will rely heavily upon machine work. The shaping of most (not all) of the parts will be done with template fixtures on the router table. If students wish to make a set of chairs at home the drawings will be available for all the fixtures in .pdf or .dxf (CNC) or SVG (Shaper Origin) formats. The fixtures can also be purchased with advance notice.
The class will be co-taught by Darrell Peart and George Knutson – making for an advantageous instructor/student ratio.
Darrell is one of the leading experts on Greene & Greene furniture in the US and has been teaching at CVSW for many years. This will be a great class and will sell out quickly- Class is limited to 8 students
