“Spy Vs Spy” Build a pair of Unique Side Tables with Kevin Rodel
This table is based on a 1903 design by the Viennese architect, Josef Hoffmann. Kevin has made a few changes. It is a very striking design but simple to build. It features several joinery, design and decorative techniques that you can easily master and apply to other projects. These include a reverse taper leg with inlaid “cuffs” or feet, a foolproof grid construction method and a “pinwheel” top construction. We will each make two of these tables in class and students will have a choice of wood species to pick from.
The design of this table lends itself to many different finishing effects and Kevin will be hosting an interesting and highly recommended class on “Alternative Finishes” such as fuming, bleaching, chemical dyes and the wire brush technique of "jin-di-sugi" . This Alternative Finishes class immediately follows the week-long class. Sign up today.
