Furniture Making II: Shaker Hall Table
An eight-session (or two weekend) class that is a continuation of the Furniture making I class. This class concentrates on basic table construction while giving participants more experience using the main shop power tools- tablesaw, jointer and thickness planer. The introduction of handplanes as a surfacing and milling tool along with mastering a card scraper (you will receive one as part of your materials fee) gives you new confidence and new skills which you will use extensively in the construction of this classic Shaker style cherry hall table. New skills introduced in this class include cutting and fitting traditional mortice & tenon joinery, making tapered legs, learning the aesthetic considerations for making an attractive table top along with strategies to ensure successful glue ups in any furniture project. Class size is limited, Furniture Making I is a prerequisite. Tuition: $595.00 plus materials ($225.00 plus tax).
