Description
The focus of this class is on safety and on using tools that don’t cost a fortune and are readily available just about anywhere.
We will discuss which basic tools you will need, simple measuring and marking techniques, how to size parts accurately with a chop saw, how to make a decorative cut out at the base of the legs using a jig saw and a router and using the router table to form the joint between the stretchers and the legs. We will explore strategies used to bevel the top- both with hand tools and power tools. Along the way we will talk about using cut nails as an option for some of the joinery, using a router to shape parts and to form a decorative bead and how to apply traditional milk paint- a finish that will complement the project nicely and one you will find yourself using on any number of other projects.
