COVID-19 Updates

In accordance with State of Connecticut Covid-19 guidelines, we have revised our protocols. Students who have received the Covid vaccine are no longer required to wear masks in class. Social distancing requirements will stay in place and we will continue to leave every other bench free whenever possible. Class size will be limited to 10 students.

In fairness to all students, proof of vaccination (CDC card) is required upon entering the shop. If you do not have your CDC card, prefer not to show it, or you remain unvaccinated, you must continue to wear a mask at all times while in the school.

We continue to take this pandemic very seriously. If you feel that you cannot follow the above protocols then I request that you wait until they are completely lifted before coming to CVSW.

Please do not come to class if you are feeling sick and are exhibiting any of the common Covid-19 symptoms

Stay well

Bob Van Dyke, Director, Connecticut Valley School of Woodworking

Hi Bob,

I wanted to thank you again for the excellent woodworking fundamentals class.

I’ve been working self-taught for a while.  But, there were so many ‘Aha!’ moments where I realized I’d either picked up a bad habit or that there was a better way to do what I’d been doing.  I felt like my skills and confidence really improved over the week, and the table is the best work I’ve done so far.  Your teaching style is really engaging and the class was thoroughly enjoyable.

Definitely not my last class - I’m going to see if I can arrange for time off to join the workbench class in August, so I hope to see you then.

Thanks for the last five weeks. This was one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. Thanks for your patience and I look forward to taking more courses in the future. Meanwhile, this summer, I'll keep practicing dovetails and I'll look forward to seeing you at the open house.

All I can say is WOW!  Mike Mascelli is absolutely terrific!
